Big Reasons to Visit Mandurah
THE CHALLENGE
Mandurah offers a diverse range of experiences, from dolphin encounters and waterways to food, events and family-friendly attractions. The challenge was to showcase this variety through engaging digital content while maintaining a consistent and active social media presence that inspires travellers year-round.
At the same time, Visit Mandurah wanted to deliver a standout destination marketing campaign that would highlight the many reasons to visit and reach potential travellers across multiple marketing channels.
OUR APPROACH
Wanderlust Communications manages the social media strategy for Visit Mandurah across Facebook and Instagram, delivering a consistent stream of engaging content that reflects the destination’s personality and appeal. Our work includes content planning and scheduling, crafting platform-specific copy, producing Reels and short-form video content, and curating imagery from Visit Mandurah’s existing image library and user-generated content. We also manage community engagement, responding to comments and messages and helping foster an active online community around the destination.
Alongside this ongoing work, we partnered with Visit Mandurah to deliver the award-winning “Big Reasons to Visit Mandurah” campaign. Wanderlust Communications managed and executed this multi-channel destination marketing campaign across paid digital advertising (Google and Meta), organic social media, print advertising, outdoor billboards, media partnerships, email marketing and competition management.
RESULTS
Through a strategic and integrated marketing approach, Visit Mandurah continues to reach and inspire travellers through engaging social media content and targeted campaigns. Across social media, the campaign delivered more than 4.3 million impressions on Facebook and over 300,000 on Instagram, while driving over 257,000 website sessions from more than 202,000 users.
Paid social activity generated over 50,000 link clicks, reaching more than 548,000 people and delivering 1.5 million impressions, while maintaining strong engagement rates of 7% on Facebook and 4% on Instagram. Importantly, this translated into real-world impact, with visitor centre sales increasing by 34.8% and a 6% uplift in state visitor spend.
The campaign also contributed to a noticeable increase in positive sentiment across social platforms, reflecting stronger audience connection with the destination.
The “Big Reasons to Visit Mandurah” campaign was recognised with the 2023 Perth Airport Tourism Award, gaining national recognition for its outstanding contribution to tourism marketing and further positioning Mandurah as a must-visit destination in Western Australia.
